Arijan Mačak is a young saxophonist who began his musical education at the Matija Petar Katančić Music School in Valpovo and continued it at the Franjo Kuhač High School in Osijek (Croatia). He has successfully defended his master's thesis with distinction and graduated “Summa cum laude” in June 2024 in the class of Miha Rogina at the Academy of music University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). He is currently a first-year Doctorate student at the same institution.

During his studies, he participated in many music competitions, such as Aeolus in Düsseldorf, Saxgo in Nova Gorica, Temsig, and Papandopulo, achieving high results. In 2022, he won the first prize and a gold plaque in the highest category at the Temsig competition. In November 2023, he reached the semifinals at the prestigious Adolphe Sax competition in Dinant (Belgium).
In February of 2025, he won 2nd prize at the Papandopulo competition.
As a soloist, he performed in concerts with the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber String Orchestra in the Sozvočje svetov concert cycle and with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, receiving the Prešeren Award from the Academy of Music Ljubljana for both concerts. In March 2024, he performed as a soloist with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra in the Tutti concert cycle. In June 2025 he will perform the famous “Concertino da camera” by Jacques Ibert with SNG Maribor orchestra.
As a soloist and member of Trio Setsuna and Ljubljana saxophone quartet, he has performed throughout Slovenia and abroad, performing in concerts organised by the Ljubljana Festival, Lent Festival, Academy of Music Ljubljana, Arsana festival, Jeunesses musicales Slovenia, Jeunesses msuciales Ljubljana, Nei Suoni dei luoghi festival and performing at the Biennale in Koper. In June 2022, he gave a solo recital at the Lent Festival, in March 2023 at the Ljubljana Festival, and in October 2023, a solo recital organized by Jeunesses musicales Ljubljana.
He regularly attends masterclasses with internationally renowned professors such as Vincent David, Claude Delangle, Jean-Denis Michat, Simon Diricq, among others.
