Andres Ramirez began his clarinet studies with Maestro Orlando Rodríguez Segura, and later continued his training at the Conservatory of the National University of Colombia with Maestro Robert De Gennaro; in 1999 he graduated with meritorious mention, a distinction that allowed him to win the prize for the best graduate work of the Faculty of Arts of his class.

With a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, he pursued postgraduate studies at Indiana University in the United States with Maestro Howard Klug, and later in Switzerland with Maestro François Benda, obtaining three master's degrees at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in 2005: Improvement in Clarinet, Clarinet Pedagogy and Elementary Music Education. At the same time as he studies in Lugano, he specialized in free improvisation at the Musikhochschule in Basel with Walter Faendrich. He received his doctorate in Educational Sciences from RUDECOLOMBIA with honors in 2021.

He has been a member of the Symphonic Band of Santa Fe de Bogotá, National Symphonic Band, supernumerary musician of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá, member of the Chamber Orchestra of the Italian Switzerland and Clarinet Professor at the Musikschule Romanshorn. Since 2006 he has been Clarinet Professor at the Universidad del Cauca; he is a Yamaha Artist for Clarinet, Cañas Gonzales Artist (Argentina) and BG Artist (France).
