A Japanese saxophonist based in France, Sumika Tsujimoto epitomizes the modern-day artist, investing in her YouTube channel « [Sumika] Saxophone » which currently has 100,000 subscribers and well over 20 million total views. As an official artist of "Henri Selmer Paris" and "BG France,” she also enjoys a career as a chamber musician and soloist in Japan and France.

« I began my musical studies on alto saxophone with BG's L11 ligature, and after 20 years of practice, it's still my best partner »

Born in Nara, Japan, she started the saxophone at the age of 13. After studying at the Takamado Art High School she continued her studies at the Soai University Department of Music in Osaka, studying under Suwako Iwata and Masahiro Maeda. She has won numerous awards including the university’s prestigious President’s Prize, 3rd place in both the solo and ensemble divisions at the Osaka International Music Competition (2012, 2015) and was a winner in the saxophone division of the Japan Classical Music Competition.

« BG ligatures are versatile, from soprano to baritone, whether you're a beginner or a professional »

After beginning studies in Japan, she moved to France to continue her studies with Philippe Geiss at the Strasbourg Conservatory. She graduated from the saxophone department with distinction, awarded unanimously by the jury. She won 1st prize and special prize in 3 international chamber music competitions (at Kurashiki / Japan, Boulogne Billancourt / France, Leopold Bellan / France) as a tenor saxophone player of the Quatuor Avena international saxophone quartet. In 2020, she finished her masters specializing in chamber music at the Haute École des arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Strasbourg, where her growing musical career continues to flourish.

« I trust BG products, whether for their comfort or their adaptability to any combination of equipment (mouthpiece, reed, saxophone) »

Since 2019, she has released 5 CDs born from her collaboration with young Japanese artists. All of them promote new original music of Japanese composers or cover songs of Japanese music (especially modern culture: anime, film music , Vocaloid etc…) and enhance the attractiveness of the soprano saxophone.
