Misato Hanawa has been shaking the international classical music world, inspiring admiration and interest from concert presenters, conductors, critics, and audiences throughout the world.

Born in Ibaraki, Ms. Hanawa began her studies on the piano at the age of three before switching to saxophone at at 11. She has also studied composition and continues to write arrangements for saxophone and piano.

Praised for her “brilliance and maturity”, Ms. Hanawa is regularly invited to give recitals and to participate in festivals in the most prestigious venues all over the world, such as: Japan’s Symphony Hall, Tokyo Opera City (B→C Artist Recital Series), Wiener Musikverein, Ariel Opera House, Mito Art Tower, and Carnegie Hall in NYC.

She is also regularly invited to masterclasses in Granada, Caseres, Pittsburgh, Sam-Houston,Seoul,Columbus, Youngtown, Frostburg, Fairmont, Las Palmas saxophone meeting, and Galipolis.

Hanawa has performed with numerous orchestras, including the Israel Soloist Orchestra, the Japan Century Orchestra, Cairo Opera House Orchestra,and the Wien Chamber Orchestra.

She explores a wide range of repertoire, from great works from the Baroque period to works by contemporary composers. She has regularly performed from Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto and his Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso.

Ms. Hanawa graduated with a 1st prize gold medal from the Conservatoire de Cergy-Pontoise, Conservatoire de Cambrai in 2011. She is the winner of several prestigious international competitions, including the International Music Competition's Leopold Bellan in France, the World Music Competition in Spain, International Music Competition U.F.A.M. in France, the International North Music Competition in Sweden, International Medici Competiton in Italy, the International Moscow Music Competition in Russia, and the International Ginastera Music Competition in Japan.

She has recorded two CDs with Octavia Records: Hommage a Edith Piaf and Rondo Capriccioso. Both received acclaim at home and abroad.

Ms. Hanawa is a performing artist for both Vandoren Paris and Selmer Paris.
