Marina begins the study of saxophone at a very young age with S. Agata Militello (ME) Musical Band, in her birth place.

She continues her studies at the “V. Bellini” Conservatory of Music in Palermo with M. Gaetano Costa and then pursues her studies at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Music in Milan where she obtains her Diploma with full marks under the guidance of M. Daniele Comoglio. Following the Diploma, she follows the second level academic two-year degree with the highest score of “110 cum laude” by presenting experimental project “In_Search” for electronic saxophones.

During her studies, she has participated in numerous improvement courses with International level artists such as, M. Jean-Marie Londeix, M. Vincent David, M. Claude Delangle, M. Mario Marzi, M. Pascal Bonnet, M. Fabrizio Mancuso, M. Arno Bornkamp, M. Christian Wirth, M. Jean-Yves Fourmeau, M. Lars Mleckush and M. Antonio Felipe Belijar.

She collaborates with the most important Italian Orchestras as well as International ones such as: Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Filarmonica della Scala, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, I Pomeriggi Musicali, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, Orchestra del Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano.

She has also played in prestigious theatre halls such as: Teatro alla Scala, Teatro degli Arcimboldi, Teatro dal Verme, Teatro di Verdura, Teatro Litta, M.U.D.E.C, Palazzo Reale of Milano, Palazzina Liberty, Teatro Vittorio Emanuele of Messina, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro St. James Cavalier (Malta), Teatro-Bastia (Corsica), Castello Sforzesco - Milano, Pinacoteca of Brera, Sala Verdi (Conservatorio G. Verdi di Milano).

As a soloist, she has played the most important repertoire pieces of saxophonist literature such as: “Concerto in Mib” by A. Glazunov for contralto saxophone and string orchestra with the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali and the “Concertino” by J. Ibert with the Orchestra Filarmonica Campana.

She has taken part in an important tour in China where she has played in prestigious theatres and concert halls such as, Yangzhou Concert Hall, Tianjin Grand Theatre and Harbin Grand Theatre, in chamber music recitals in duo with the pianist Elia Tagliavia.

She has been conducting researches in electro-acoustic field and collaborates with the Electronic Music Department of the G. Verdi Conservatory of Milan.

Her new project, OVERLAP, an audiovisual installation performance created with Matteo Castiglioni, was selected and inserted in the 2019/20 season “Early Night Modern” at the LAC of Lugano (Lugano Arte e Cultura) organized by OGGIMUSICA. Furthermore, the project was also published on “Sonic Scope Journal”, a scientific popular magazine by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

In November 2018 she passes the audition of saxophone held by the Fondazione Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

In October 2021 she has recorded for Da Vinci Publishing “Maschere: new music for solo saxophone and saxophone and live electronics”, a project composed of unpublished works by nine composers belong in the panorama of Italian contemporary music like Giorgio Colombo Taccani, Fabio Massimo Capogrosso, Orazio Sciortino, Alberto Di Priolo, Nelly Li Puma, Angelo Sormani, Giulio Marazia and Leonardo Marino.

She has combined concerts and artistic activities with the didactic-pedagogical one, obtaining in June 2017 the Master of Arts Music Pedagogy at the prestigious Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano with the highest marks.

Since 2014, she teaches saxophone  in music middle schools and conducts Master Classes on musical improvements.

She is a saxophone teacher at the Conservatory “S. Giacomantonio” of Cosenza.
