Javier Bermúdez Sogorb, Spanish saxophonist born in 1997, began his musical and saxophone training at the age of 5, in Alicante, his hometown.

In 2016 he began his classical saxophone license at the ‘Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castilla - La Mancha’, in the saxophone class of professors Antonio Felipe and Tomás Jerez.

After finishing his degree, he decided to move to France, to continue his studies with Nicolas Arsenijevic at the Conservatoire de Versailles Grand Parc and the University of Paris - Saclay, where he studied his Master in ‘Musique, Intérpretation et Patrimoine’.

During his professional career he has taken part in several of the most important international competitions in the world of the saxophone.

Among his experiences in competitions, it is worth mentioning his participation in the ‘XIX Concurso de jóvenes Intérpretes Ciudad de Xátiva’ where he won the Second Prize,

‘XIII Andorra Sax Fest International Competition’ in 2020, where he was Semifinalist, and the most recent participation in the “Josip Nochta International Competition 2024” held in the city of Zagreb (Croatia) and where he was Semifinalist.

As a soloist, in April 2023 he performed a concert at the prestigious ‘Salle Cortot’ in Paris, where among others, he performed the premiere of ‘Lift Off’ by the Australian composer Alice Chance, for Soprano saxophone and Piano. In Spain he has performed in some Auditoriums and theatres such as the Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante, ‘ADDA’, or in the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante.

In his facet of chamber music, we highlight his artistic activity in France with the ‘Quatuor Étincelle’, with which he performs concerts in Paris, Versailles, or Vannes, among others; and his activity with the ‘ENSA Saxophone Ensemble’ in Spain, a multidisciplinary saxophone ensemble with which he has performed concerts and shows accompanied by Dance and other disciplines throughout the Geography of the province of Alicante and Valencia, in Spain. He is also a member of the Versailles Saxophone Ensemble, founded by Vincent David, with whom he performs concerts in France.

As a saxophone and creation lover, he has participated in several European and World Saxophone Congresses,  with the ENSA Saxophone Ensemble (EURSAX 2017 Oporto and XVIII World Sax Congress Zagreb, Croatia) where they performed a total of 6 premieres for the saxophone ensemble formation.

More recently, he participated in the Gran Canaria Sax Congress (2023) in which he participated with the Quatuor Étincelle, performing 3 premieres commissioned by the ensemble, and with the ‘Ensemble de Saxophones de Versailles’, conducted by Nicolas Arsenijevic, with whom he performed a concert entitled ‘Water Songs’.
