The Amat Saxophone Quartet has been active on the music scene since 2021 and consists of Aldo Figheri, Annamaria Savitteri, Michele Scialpi, and Tommaso Michelotti, four saxophonists who graduated with highest honors from the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Milan under the guidance of Mario Marzi and Marco Bontempo. In March 2025, the quartet obtained the Second-Level Academic Diploma in Chamber Music with Emanuela Piemonti, achieving a final grade of 110/110 with highest honors and special distinction.
Alongside an outstanding academic background, the quartet pursues constant research into sound, developing an interpretative language characterized by strong cohesion and virtuosity, combined with refined and conscious musicality.
« We chose BG because, by using its ligatures, we have seen significant improvements in intonation, sound, homogeneity between the four instruments »
The quartet boasts a wide and diverse repertoire, encompassing both classical works and the most recent contemporary creations. It is deeply committed to the promotion, dissemination, and production of contemporary music, collaborating with composers such as Alessandro Solbiati, Gaia Aloisi, and Filippo Lepre. The ensemble actively contributes to the creation of new works and to the enhancement of writing for saxophone quartet. Among its most significant collaborations are the world premiere of Alla radice di un unico corpo by Filippo Lepre, presented at the 3rd European Saxophone Congress (Trento, July 2024), and the official revision of Dawn II (1991), carried out in collaboration with Alessandro Solbiati in 2023.
The quartet also took part in the production of the documentary film Il Bosco delle Emozioni, created in collaboration with pianist Maurizio Baglini and Rai5 and available on RaiPlay — a project combining music, storytelling, and visual art through a path of profound interpretative sensitivity.
The Amat Saxophone Quartet has distinguished itself in numerous national and international competitions, winning the First Absolute Prize at the My Favourite Sax Competition in Empoli and the First Prize at the 27th International Chamber Music Competition Giulio Rospigliosi in Pistoia.
« The ease of sound emission developed by these ligatures allows us to obtain all the desired sonorities »

The ensemble has performed in Italy and abroad, collaborating with leading cultural institutions and organizations, including Mediolanum Banca, the Lombardy Region in collaboration with the University of Milan, Serate Musicali, CUAMM – Doctors with Africa, Divertimento Ensemble, the “Secondo Maggio” Musical Association, Rencontres Musicales du Méditerranée (Corsica), Spazio Lenovo (Milan), the international festival “Senza Fili” (Pistoia), and UnAltroFestival (Cremona).
Composer Alessandro Solbiati, who collaborated directly with the quartet, stated:
“I met the Amat Saxophone Quartet at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Milan, where the four musicians were working on my piece Dawn II. I have heard several interpretations, but theirs immediately struck me for the coherence of the sound, their absolute attention to the score, and a musicality capable of going beyond the written sign while fully respecting the text. No other performance equaled theirs. I believe the Amat Quartet can bring its artistic background to a level of rare distinction.”
The quartet presents itself as an ensemble dedicated to the exploration of new musical languages, with the aim of promoting contemporary music, highlighting emerging composers, and developing innovative projects capable of bringing audiences closer to the music of our time, while maintaining a strong connection with the classical tradition.
